Hiatella rugosa
Playa de Poniente, Gijón, February 2010. Normal A similar species is Hiaella arctica, that is characterized by two prominent extensions from the umbo to the posterior margin ends, and in addition, a valve Montagu is greater than another (as in Hiatella rugosa) and has posterior margin truncated (rounded Hiatella rugosa) . Other species that could be confused are Barnea candida and Petricola podaliformis, but both are quite conspicuous radial striations. Moreover Lutraria magna has a concave dorsal margin clear.
